My main field of research is associated with the application of crystal structure prediction (CSP) calculations and solid-state NMR to solve challenging problems of structural chemistry, including determination of crystal structures of the compounds which do not yield single crystals of sufficient quality to be measured with single crystal X-Ray diffraction (NMR crystallography). I’m also interested in understanding crystallization behavior of pharmaceutically relevant compounds, including their propensity towards the formation of polymorphs, solvates, hydrates and cocrystals. As a result, I hope to gain a deeper knowledge of the factors governing the formation of particular crystal forms, and be able to use this knowledge for the rational design of novel forms with modified physicochemical properties (crystal engineering).
